The Taygetos mountain and Cape Tainaro are spectacular, and Areopolis and Kardamili are perfect for brief times of peace. Local products and Greek cuisine are gaining popularity. Despite the fact that the area is considered poor thanks to its rocky composition, plants that do not grow anywhere else can be found in the broader Mani region.
Mani is regarded as a blessed place, a location that could easily become a film set, and a location about which many books have been published. The wildness of the landscapes creates a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, and the dark yet generous personality of its residents harkens back to another age. This desolate and rugged peninsula is nestled between the Messinian and Laconian Gulfs, and the origins of its inhabitants from Historic Sparta are evident in their irreconcilable character and strict customs. Maniates have a great regard for the family and have grown to be very proud of their homeland since they were never enslaved by alien conquerors.
For several, Mani is the most beautiful region of the Peloponnese, a reality that is reinforced by a solid basis of morality and historical facts. In the other hand, it is often compared to Scotland's wild scenery and the sinister allure of the heroes in Wuthering Heights.
